Nature conservancy in Randers Regnskov

In September, Randers Regnskov focuses on nature conservancy. In weekends of this month you can taste some of the rare Danish cultural plants that Randers Regnskov aims to conserve in a variety of interesting projects. The café will, for instance, make bread from the rare species of corn called “Svedjerug” which has been cultivated in Denmark since the Bronze Age.

Furthermore, September offers free guided tours in the beautiful meadow area called “Vorup Enge”. These tours last about 1½ hours and take place on September 9th at 8am and on September 23rd at 7pm. You don’t have to sign up for these tours – just meet us in front of the main entrance of Randers Regnskov. Remember to wear clothes that are suitable for the Danish weather!

Finally, you can learn more about Randers Regnskov’s cooperation with an Indian tribe from Ecuador named Verde Sumaco. Each year Randers Regnskov supports the tribe financially. In return the tribe has to assure us that the large oil companies are not allowed to search for oil in the valuable rainforest in which they live.
