On February 12th the natural scientist Charles Darwin would have been 200 years old. In that occasion Randers Regnskov pays a tribute to him by serving a piece of delicious birthday cake to the first 100 guests this day.
2009 is the year of Darwin – partly because of his 200th birthday, partly due to the fact that it’s been exactly 150 years since his ground breaking work “Origin of the Species” was published. This book presented Darwin’s theory of evolution and his research on life’s development by natural selection.
“Today the theory of evolution is an acknowledged science - just as well as gravity or as the fact that the earth is round. Even so there is still a need to talk about evolution, and this year is the perfect occasion. We are currently planning to create an exhibition that will teach our guests about evolution as the foundation of all modern biology. Naturally the exhibit will also present Darwin as the person he was”, says intermediary Charlotte Trolle.
