that the tropical rainforests are home to more than 50% percent of the world's plants and animals. As an example, a country like Costa Rica, similar in size to Denmark, is home to 8000 plant species, whereas Denmark only have around 1500 species.
Verde Sumaco
Randers Regnskov cooperates with an Indian tribe in the Verde Sumaco region in Ecuador in an effort to preserve thirty thousand acres of valuable rainforest. Each year, Randers Regnskov donates money to the tribe so educational material for the children can be bought, and we also support minor projects. By making these donations, we ensure that the tribe does not allow oil companies to look for oil in the Verde Sumaco region.
The work to conserve the South American rainforest is carried out in a cooperation with Aalborg Zoo which supports the neighboring Payamino tribe.
